CHIP COLLECTOR! Your chip is very interesting and unique for sure. Dale has the chip listed in the '85 book as: FOM-FLAGS Paste On circa 1886... very interesting is that your chip is unique in that it has: PAT. 1896... but the example Dale shows as FOM c1886 does not have the PAT info on the chip. PASTE ON chips preceeded TRUE Crest & Seals... AGREED? I Know... I Know about all the FUSS with the dates in Dale's 1985 first edition AGCs book and it sure would be great if Dale would add his comments on this but... what do you make of this? Do you think the PAT. 1896 was for the PASTE ON chip concept? OR... was the circa 1886 just a type-o?
