Re: Thanks Mike.....
In Response To: Thanks Mike..... ()

... I have collected for nearly 50 years, my collection has been in a box in the closet so many times! vbg I truly understand! I kept getting it back out though.

When I first started I was only about 8 years old. My uncle had been all over Europe and later South Pacific in WWII and he picked up currency where ever he went. Years later he gave it to me to do with whatever I wanted. As a kid I traded some away for peanut butter sandwiches and bull frogs! Later after the frog got free and the sandwiches were gone the other kids still had the currency, I decided not to trade any more but keep what I had, that was where it began.

Over the years friends and family would bring back souvenirs from trips but would always bring me a few notes. Those notes became the 'valuable' ones to me. Many of the people of whom helped me are no longer here, but I still have the notes. As my collection matured I ventured into 'other' types of money such as casino chips and fell victim to becoming a chip collector as well.... Oh what a slippery slope! I like collecting chips but I must admit currency is my first real love. I have learned so much about the world, its politics, customs, and its geography over the past 50 years I am compelled to try and share what I have gained through collecting.

What made me first realize what I had learned from it was during one of the Olympics years ago when the teams marched out and were introduced, others (friends) had not heard of some of the obscure places from where came. I knew all of them, where they were and something about them. My friends were amazed. I was terrible in history and geography in school! Funny how things work.
