Trip to Vegas - Part IV - The last two days.......

........in Vegas

After having a nice lunch in Apple Valley with some old friends, I got back on I-15 and headed toward Las Vegas. I ran thru some snow and sleet, but things cleared up when I hit the Nevada stateline.

I stopped in Primm and picked up some slot cards including a nice set of Terribles blank cards. When I got o the Flamingo, I asked them to give me a room with "a nice view". I ended up on the 23rd floor directly across from Caesars in a newly renovated room with a large flat screen TV and a fancy new bathroom with a TV built into the bathroom mirror - pretty cool. I also had a nice view of the fountains of Bellagio. A fellow chipper, Ken Volpe stopped by and we went out to dinner a a local restaurant - good food and very reasonably priced. Ken reminded me that the next day Tuesday Feb. 11th was the date for the Las Vegas Chip Club monthly meeting. Ken dropped me off at the Flamingo and I went up to my room just in time to see the fountains at Bellagio going off - I had a really great view of the show. I later went down and played some slot machines and finally called it a night.

On Tuesday morning I got up had a nice breakfast and went down to the UPS store in the Flamingo Hotel lobby and shipped a few things back home - including my Harrah's leather jacket and ALL of my dirty clothes from the past two weeks. There was no way I could get all that stuff back into the suitcase for the flight home. I headed out to visit a few Casinos before I went to the LV Chip Club meeting which started at 7:00 pm. I stopped at the Wild Wild West, Palms, Orleans and Red Rock casinos. Along the the way I found the Marine Veterans Club at Arville and Spring Mountain roads where the LV Chip Club meets. I got to the meeting at around 7:00 pm and there were about 25 chippers there with all their stuff laid out. It was a good meeting with many of the same activities we have at the AC Chip Club meetings. I knew almost everybody at the meeting and got a chance to talk to Vegas collectors that I only usually see at the Club Convention. I had brought my case of chips with me and I sold about $700.00 of chips - a nice way to end my Vegas trip.
I went back to the Flamingo and got things packed up for my flight back to Philly on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday morning I returned the rental care, which now had 1980 miles more on the odometer than it had when I picked it up on Jan. 28th. I got on the plane and flew home - my Vegas trip was over.

I had a great trip - I saw a lot of old friends, made some new friends, bought some chips, harvested a batch of Roulette chips, visited several casinos I had never been to before, saw some neat sights(including Catalina Island), sold some chips, picked up a bunch of slot cards, got a free leather jacket from Harrahs and had several good meals. Well that's about it until I make my annual cross country trek to the Chip Convention in June.

No,no.....wait a minute....... I just opened an envelope that came in the mail today with my tickets to the Arnold Palmer Invatational Golf Tournament in Orlando, Florida. I'll be in Florida from March 24 to March 31 and I hope to celebrate my 63rd birthday on March 29th by meeting Arnold Palmer and seeing Tiger Woods win the golf tournament.

I am sure while I'm in Florida I will have some more chipping adventures and see some fellow collectors. So stay tuned for another "Report" in early April.

Life is Good !!!

Go out and have an adventure or two of your own !!

Take care,
Jerry
