Re: Need Ca. casino help from a Ca. person please

If you're staying in Carlsbad, there are a number of options.

All casinos have their address posted on their websites and you should be able to google maps or mapquest dirctions from one to another pretty easily.

You could also spend the better part of a day hitting the Los Angeles card rooms if you wanted too as well as the one farthest North from Carlsbad is the Commerce Casino and it is about an hour and a half give or take depending on traffic (okay, make it two hours because L.A. traffic always sucks!).

So, for San Diego you have.

Ocean's 11 - Card room only
Pala Casino
Casino Pauma
Harrah's Rincon
Valley View
Barona Valley Ranch
Sycuan
Viejas.

Golden Acorn - is way east of Viejas on Interstate 8. It's actually about 20 minutes from Viejas but it's pretty much out in the sticks.

Santa Ysabel - is in north east San Deigo County past Julian. Julian is a nice place to visit for a day or an afternoon so you could head out there and make a day of it. But, it's definitely remote.

In El Cajon, which is really only about 12 minutes from downtown San Diego there are two card clubs: Palomar Club and Lucky Lady

In Chula Vista which is south of San Diego and just north of Mexico is another card club: Village Club

A bit further north in southern Riverside County are two more that are close to San Diego.

Pechanga - in Temecula which is about an hour from Downtown, maybe 45 minutes from C'bad.
Lake Elsinore - card club only. Lake elsinore is about 15 minutes north of Temecula.

So..........if you want to make a big loop I would do the following. I'll show the big loop that would maximize efficiency and you can always break it up into pieces over different days. I'll also include the card rooms but you may skip those in favor of the pure casinos.

From Carlsbad I'd personally start out heading south.

I'd head all the way to Chula Vista on I-5 and hit the Village Club first.

Then I'd head north on I-% and hit Lucky Lady and Palomar Club in El Cajon just south of I-8

I'd stay in El Cajon and head south of I-8 a bit to Sycuan.

From Sycuan I'd head East to Viejas. you can backtrack to I-8 or head out through Harbison Canyon to hit I-8.

No, you have to decide if you want to go all the way to Golden Acorn or not by driving East on I-8. you're as close to Golden acorn at this point as you'll ever be. if you go to golden Acorn, I'd go there and turn right around back west on I-8.

I'd head up to Lakeside (Highway 67) and go to Barona Valley Ranch. Barona is kind of out in the boonies and not really near any of the others

After Barona, you have to get to I-15 North. From I-15 north you want to get to 76 East. From there, you can hit, in a row,

Pala Casino
Casino Pauma
Harrah's Rincon
Valley View.

All four of these are relatively close (within 10 miles give or take) of each other.

after you hit them, assuming you did them in this order, you have to backtrack west. You can either go all the way back to I-15 or take a back way to Pechanga. Look at a map and you'll see the way. Regardless, Head North and go to Pechanga.

From Pechanga head north on I-15 to Lake Elsinore.

From Lake Elsinore, turn around and drive all the way back to Oceanside (I-15 south to I-78 West to I-5 North). Then go to Ocean's 11.

That's all of them except for Santa Ysabel. As i said, it's pretty far out there so it doesn't really fit in anywhere. if you split the trip into pieces, you could probably hit it when you do the four on or near Highway 76 though.

Now, if you want to go to Los Angeles you have even more options.

In Los Angeles you have from mostly North to mostly South:

Commerce Casino
The Bicycle Casino
Clube Caribe
Hollywood Park
Normandie Casino
Hustler Casino
Crystal Casino.
Hawaiian Gardens

I actually hit Commerce, The Bike, Hollywood Park, Normandi, and Hustler all in one day and played Poker for at least two hours at each place once. But, I wasn't heading back home to San diego when I did it.

To make it even more exciting there are a bunch of casinos in the palm Springs area as well but now you're talking a two hour plus drive from Carlsbad.

The only card room in San diego I've been to is Ocean's 11. I've never been to the one in chula Vista or the ones in El Cajon. I've been to every other casino in San Diego County except for Santa Ysabel.

Good Luck

Michael
