When the Sports World casino was closed and the owner was doing an auction of furnishings, I had an opportunity to interview him. I ended up writing an article for the Club magazine (CCTN) that addressed the closing of the Sports World casino and the Regency (Laughlin) casino, which were both closed at about the same time. If I am not mistaken, the article is available on-line in the CCTN archives accessible via the website. (Allan Anderson has been working on the site.)
I mention this because during the auction, while all the slot machines and gaming tables were up for bid (and sold), the Sports World chips and tokens were not offered. I asked about the chips and the owner told me, words to the effect of... I still have all the chips and I'll know people who collect and sell. I then asked about "CBS Sports World" chips and he said that he had those as well.
It is also interesting to note, it appears that there has never been a "redemption" action for the Sports World chips and tokens.
Again, nice chip!
