The police have pretty much hit a dead end. They are 99.9% sure of who it was but do not have the evidence to have an arrest warrant issued. It is believed to be a friend of my daughter's that visited briefly the day they came up missing. Everyone has coopereated with the police and answered questions, the girl who is believed to be the culprit (a minor) has refused to speak with police at her parents advice, she (I discovered later) has pending shoplifting charges also. There are also other minor circumstances that also poit to her. Unfortunately no HARD evidence. Also, I have discovered her family has some other criminal past as well. She is no longer allowed here, and no longer friends with my daughter. Also, the police have talked with the parents via phone and say they sound 'very nervous' talking with them.
