Bottle shows
Yes you can find chips at Bottle shows! The only decent antique show in Knoxville TN started and was produced by the local bottle club. I went once about 6 years ago and liked the show. The next year they sent me a flyer for the show and I discovered that for a few dollars more than the entry fee i could have a table at the show. A few years before I had a booth in an antique mall and still had some leftovers I wanted to get rid of so I got the table. Needless to say I let Cindy man the table whiloe went looking for chips and other things. About 2/3 of the way thru the show a guy had 5 or 6 books filled with his huge poker chip collection. He wanted $2500 which in my mind was way over priced for the chips in it. He also was insistant that he would not sell me individual chips. I finally convinced him to sell me all of the 88 C&S chips plus a small box of extra regular chips. He wanted $1K for all of them. Unfortunately he would not sell me any of the other, better poker and illegal club chips. As I was looking thru the small box of odd chips I found the one shown below. Of course that alone convinced me to buy the C&S collection. I figure that I paid a fair price for the C&S chips and got this one free. I also picked up a few other chips at that show but passed on a great collection of old Vegas matchbooks. I passed because the guy wanted $15 each for the large books with the writing on the matches.
