I agree Fred. This subject was brought up on a Las Vegas related message board that I frequent. Several folks thought this was great, a way to create many, many jobs, right now. Wrong! In addition to new right-of-way acquisition, environmental impact studies would need to be done, a process that takes years, and dollars to donuts, somewhere along the proposed line there will be a rodent or insect found that is on the endangered species list. It will never be built. ...at least not while Democrats bow to every whim of radical environmentalists.
Maybe there's one positive to this. Since it won't be built, that might be better than building it and having to subsidize it in perpetuity (with more taxpayer funds) because it couldn't possibly turn a profit. Amtrak's Desert Wind ran between LA and Las Vegas. They shut it down in 1997 due to low ridership.
