Unfortunately, eBay thinks its competition is online merchants like Amazon, and has been morphing into a professional tool. That may be where the money is, but it is not what we hobbiests would like to see. I've given them my opinion on this but now that the old-timers who organized the company are mostly gone, I don't have much hope they will become friendly to the small seller any time soon.
