I am in the planning stages for the trip to Vegas in June and I am considering taking the boat up on Lake Mead for a couple of days before the convention. I have a passion for the Colorado River and I have been on most of the lakes and I love them all. They are all very beautiful with crystal clear water, canyons, great beaches, great fishing, and great camping. I have never been on Lake Mead and I have passed by the Gold Strike on HWY 93 just past the Hoover Dam probably a hundred times over the last 30 years because I have always been in a hurry to get to Vegas. I am thinking about slowing down a bit this year and spending a couple of days...maybe Monday or Tuesday, at the GOLD STRIKE on the way up to the convention and spend a little time on Lake Mead, the only Colorado River lake that I have not explored.
SO... I called there and the girl tells me that the GOLD STRIKE burned down and it has been rebuilt as the HACIENDA... rooms are 19.95 weekdays and a nice buffet. Hmmm... sounds like fun. What do you think?
