Re:A SAD STORY ABOUT A CHILD AND THE FAMILY CHIPS
In Response To: RE: RITZ Tulare? ()

When I was 11 I spent a week with my fabulous grandmother (the Auntie Mame of our family, Mother Dixie} and to amuse me she gave me her poker chips to play with--they were ivory; had some kind of design so I happily spent several hours coloring the design--to the horror of Mother Dixie. I survived and I guess the chips did to. Then in the 1970's when I began collecting I wrote my father and asked where Mother Dixie's chips were. He replied that when he went overseas in 1943 he left a trunk that included the chips and many valuable family herilooms in storage turning over the key to his sister, my not Auntie Mame aunt. When he returned in '46 there was no trunk as my aunt had failed to make storage payments and the trunk had been sold. So there is my chip story for the day.
