In this particular instance, the Casino Manager has dictated that the chips cannot be made available from the cage, only from the tables. Therefore there would be a location in the dealer trays for that denomination, which there is not. (However, in the past, they did use the far right-hand trough of the dealer tray for $8 chips.) I am not sure if they will do another $8 chip (which they have done for 8-8-8) when 9-9-9 rolls around, but I suspect that the Casino Manager will want it to be a $5, providing they even do one.
But you do agree that the "commission" element of baccarat and pai-gow can complicate game play? I recall at Palace Station that the commission on a $8 bet is rounded off to a $5 or $10 bet (I can't recall which one right now, but the rounding off was in-favor of the house).
