This may sound stupid, but are you sure that the chip is not faded. Reason why I ask is because I have the same chip but in purple. Same font and everything. Just purple and not gray. Are both sides of the chip and the edge the same shade of gray?

I know that purple chips would fade if left exposed to sunlight. I have a Ft. Lucinda 25c that was supposed to be purple, but due to being left in the sun, one side became, tan/gray in color. Funny thing was that the hot stamp did not get affected. Great looking chip. Square edges, bright full hot stamp, except that both sides are different colors (would be good if this was a desirable chip trait).
