Very good point! "strength of the attribution" plays a very importaint roll in both the value and listing of Florida illegals in my eyes. I am still sitting on 20 or so chips people say are from Florida and yet I can not prove it, yet there are pieces attributed to other locations (only by word of mouth) I would swear were from Florida and with a little more study I may even prove it.
All I can say is I remember back at the begining of the clubs formation, when a $5 chip traded for another $5 and if you wanted to buy it the cost was $8 no matter where or from whom the piece attributed to. I and a few other collectors were at major coin show when a dealer produced 5 metal inlay Flamingo Hotel (SMKEY) $5 chips. The cost was $50 each and he said they were fron the time Bugsy owned the joint. I flat out did not believe him. 'How do you know this' ran thru my mind. Someone (I think Archie) twisted my arm to buy one of the chips. He said you would be sorry. Still not sold on the history I bought one and threw it into the box with alll the others. Now this leads back to the original point; today everyone knows the series and knows their value, all because they are attributed to a well known person.
