Rick dismisses the low nomination response as follows; "In defense of those who choose not to run: I think that maybe people do not want to volunteer because they feel that they either do not have the experience needed to take on one of the positions or even more importantly perhaps..... the backup of the voters that would be required to succeed. New members especially do not have the "fan base" to successfully run. Let's be serious here...if,say,I was willing to run for president, what chance would I have? I really do not know that many people in the club compared to... "
It is very obvious to me who has thrown their hats in the ring long before the nominations closed who have expressed interest in running for office and who could have been considered for nomination by the membership. It's equally obvious to me who of those who have nominated who have been active on these message boards expressing their viewpoints and platforms vs. those who have not been vocal regarding where they stand. There are also incumbents who could have been nominated by members if some of the membership felt they were doing a half-way decent job. The issue is that ONLY 22 members bothered to nominate anyone. That's no way to thank the current officers for the jobs they have been doing. There should have been HUNDREDS of nominatinos received ... even if those nominations were for the re-election of pur current club officers.
