Yogi Berra is credited with saying "nobody goes there anymore - it's too crowded." I thought of that as I visited the new Sonic in Clinton Twp., Michigan - only the second of the chain to sprout up in the Detroit area. The newest branch, opened about three weeks ago, is on Groesbeck Hwy north of 16 Mile Road.

Every piece of pavement was covered with cars, parked or in line. Where two-way traffic would be the norm, instead there were cars lined up to park in double and triple columns. Traffic was backed up onto Grosebeck.

I was unable to sample the food, as I couldn't even get into the parking lot. Congratulations to Sonic and its franchisees for having the only growing business in Detroit (other than bankruptcy lawyers, of course).
