What you are looking at here is African American Scrip Notes in the $20 Denomination. These "African American Face Reserve Obligation" (AFRO) Notes were issued in Chicago, Illinois in the late 1980's. This purpose of this colorful "script" was to stimulate the economy in Black businesses. It was authorized by the US Treasury. IT DID NOT LAST LONG. With Obama in Office, could they make a COMEBACK??? (Doubtful, but I'm READY if they do!)
