It is possible that your camera is older and doesn't handle the higher capacity HDSC cards. How old is the camera and what is model? Maybe I can look in the 'net and see if is any information on it.

Somewhere in the menus there is that format command because the camera companies always have to have that option, you can never be sure that the card is formatted properly, so they enable the camera to do it...another possibility is that the optin is grayed out (or hidden) if it thinks it can't format the card.

But for now let me know the model and we can see from there...
