I have had several people email me and inquire about the software I use for cataloguing my collection and where (If I do) store the information about the notes. So I thought I would post it on the board if others are interested. I went through several software programs that were written by people who write databases but do not collect currency. They were great until I found a limitation here or there with each program. Next I had someone customize a chip database and that was great too until I found out it too had a limitation on the number of records and it was not user customizable. So, I got with a programmer in Australia and at great expense and time, a fully customizable program was written for me (& I own the rights to it) that is user friendly, customizable, and upgradeable. It has been upgraded twice since its origin. It has 25 data fields that can be sorted, and any words or phrases can be searched. Also, there are buttons to show, the front, back, front & back of each note, maps, flags, and any special images I wish to associate with the note. A row of letters can be clicked on to quickly call up a group of notes by that letter; also any field can be clicked into to call up all notes with like info. So finding similar notes is easy as well as searching for such things as birds, fish, green, blue, dates, places, values, and anything else you could think of. It also makes labels for my books where my notes are stored, 4X6 note cards I often send with notes (some of you have gotten them). It builds reports such as inventories, duplications, value reports, and others. It also compiles backups. PLUS the beauty part of this is everything is customizable, layouts, fields, reports, labels, tags, etc.
When I do a BankNote of the Day it is a simple cut & paste from pre-existing fields with a few personal comments thrown in sometimes.
Here are a few screen shots below. It is much like the chip programs you and I already use.
