At this point, the seller came on to ChipTalk (as a newbie) and asked the "value" question. He and I engaged in email conversation. In the end he told me how many chips were found and that he was at the end of selling on eBay and that he enjoyed his experience of selling to both large set collectors and to individual chip collectors. I suspect at this point that he has sold the inventory and those chips are now in the secondary market. Some as small quantity sets (10 of each denomination) and some in home game poker sets (enough to play a table of 8 or 9 players). I suspect that those poker sets will be broken down into individual chip sales.
So, the story is...
The seller has a friend that was clearing out his family's home and came across the chips. The friend, knowing the seller liked chips, gave them to him and they agreed to split the sales profits. The friend had a relative that was once a security guard in Las Veghas, not necessarily the Jackpot, who may have original;ly acquired the chips. (I think we have all heard this type of story before.) Anyway, the quantities of chips found, according to this story, were:
