Re: Update from the post office today......
I would like to say this.
1. the carriers have a set amount of time to deliver the mail they are given in a day. I have 598 possible stops in a day. I have 8 hours to case (sort) my mail, deliver it, deal with changes, forwards, holds, and other types of mail.
2. we catch 9 types of hell if we don't do all of that in the 8 hours.
3. I'm a walker, so large packages will get left behind. I try to get another carrier to drop those off. I can not get more than a few small packages in my bag at a time.
4. Any dog, I don't care what kind, bites me and your done. It doesn't matter if a bite breaks the skin or not, you need to control your dog. I will call the police and I expect damages to my uniforms paid for. Those pants are $65 a pair.
5. I take care of all of my customers equally. I've been known to drag trash cans from curbs, check in on my elderly as well as other things.
6. I have delivered mail out of other offices. trust me, its a huge pain for all evolved. A new route can and will take a lot longer to deliver.
In short, not all carriers are lazy. In fact I haven't met a lazy one yet. In fact we could use some help. You just need to remember that you are not the sole customer your carrier has. As I said, I have 598 stops and 5 of those are apartment complexes. I have delivered routes with 700 or 800 stops in the past. If you have a problem 1 or 2 times a year, consider how many times we got it right.
