"What if" When you bought a gun you were given a title like a car and the gun could not be transferred to someone else without the title processed. "Next" the original (or last legal owner) would be in addition to the culprit guilty of any crime associated with that gun and have to serve the same sentence. "AND" be required to have insurance or security bond (like car insurance) for damages caused by that gun (shot out window, etc.). this is not intended to be the answer only food for thought
The guns criminals have there is little we can do about, BUT if the above were to be enforce do you think it would slow the flood of guns into criminals hands? It would not STOP them as that is not the ONLY way they get them, but it is the easiest way and it would cause gun owners to be MUCH more diligent in their responsibilities as a gun owner. Bottom line is if you can't keep it safe then don't own it!
I am glad the constitution did not address drunk driving for everyone to interpret as they saw fit!
