Today I'm returning to Las Vegas to show my only other souvenir plate from there. Although it doesn't have a makers' mark or label, it's been a favorite because it shows the El Rancho Vegas, the Last Frontier Village and the Flamingo - the first three resorts on the strip - and 6 of the first 7 resorts are shown here.
Since the art work for this type of transfer plate was often copied from postcards and there's no marks, it's very hard to date it. But it was made sometime after early 1954 because the Sands didn't open until Dec. '53. And I know the El Rancho Vegas burned down in June 1960, but wasn't the Last Frontier Village relocated. Maybe someone can help me out with the age of the signs. (Are you checking me out again, Pam G? )
Thanks Again for looking, and have a Great Day. Later - Buzz
