Gas in our area is around 1.58-9/10 per gallon. I decided to run the CPI calculator to see what it would be in 1974 prices - the year gas shot past 50 cents a gallon. Today's gas prices would be comparable to gas at 36 cents per gallon in 1974 dollars.
