This place is beautiful and very pleasing. As mentioned by others, owner (Michael Gaughan) had his namesake restaurant at the Barbary Coast (Michael's) removed and placed into the South Point. Note that the Oyster Bar is a seafood eatery and not a "bar". Note also that the Convention location (2nd Floor, Grand Ballroom) is close to a bar. Not sure if it will be staffed or not, but even if it is not, refreshments locales are still nearby!
While the South Point uses the design of the Suncoast, it has the flavor and brightness of the early years of The Orleans. This was a fine selection to host our annual Convention and Business Meeting. I think most everyone will be impressed with this venue!
