I have a problem with valuing a chip at these "frenzy" prices. I don't know what this chip will be worth when the mania subsides, but I do now that people will be using your guide for at least the next year.

Price values in TCR should reflect the value of chips during the time that the guide is used. Assuming a one year period of use from July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001, the authors should determine what the average value of a chip is during this time period. From past histories of similar "manipulated" chips, I'm sure the authors could make a best guess of the value of the CURE chip, not for this instant, but for the year long period for which the guide will be used.

Any errors made should be on the side of conservatism. A low value causes little harm. Dealers will always receive true market value. An error on the side of valuing a chip too high, however, will harm the new collector. A new collector, by definition, is unaware of the true market value and therefore an easy victim to overpayment.
