I try to avoid political threads, but you hit a sore spot. Like most people I think you confuse assault weapons and machine guns. You still have to pull the trigger every time on legal so called "assault weapons". Fully automatic weapons have been illegal for many years and the two shouldn't be confused. As far as putting 30 bullets into a "wabbit", I guess you've never come across a rabid animal in the woods. I was out one time and a rabid Raccoon surprised me charged me and gave me a couple of good bites. I had a bolt action rifle and was able to put one into him before he bit me. If you ever experienced a rabies treatment you'll understand why I ONLY carry a a semi-automatic weapon now when I'm in the woods so if I have to I can put 10 bullets into the "waccoon" before it bites me. A friend of mine was charged by a rabid skunk one time and luckily he did have an "assault weapon" because it took three direct hits to stop the skunk. Now as far as criminals go, most murders are committed with assault weapons that are fully automatic machine guns. These are already illegal and the criminals still manage to get their hands on them. We need to crack down on illegal gun sales, not the guns themselves.
