I think we're all forgetting the impact that the Indian Casinos are having on Las Vegas. During 1970-1990 my wife & I flew into Las Vegas at least six times a year, NEVER paying for rooms/food/private shows, etc. We played alot of dollar slots in those days and people were winning all over the Casino. Hearing the continual ringing of the machines, coins falling into the hopper, people screaming, gave you the sense that YOU could win as well.

I live in Southern Calif, 40 minutes away from Pechanga casino, one of CA's largest. That's the way it is there now. On my last trip, I walked around the casino and in LESS than 10 minutes, saw SEVEN top jackpots waiting to get paid...one $121,000....all over $5k...happens all day, every day of the week. Seven great restraunts, food and rooms are cheap.

I've also walked in the Belliago, Wynn, Mirage and several others recently and you could count the slot players on one hand....quite the opposite when I had to wait in line to play the machine I wanted. I can't understand the thinking....wouldn't it be better to give away HALF of the profits if you could generate continual play on all your machines? It seems to be working for Pechanga....what happened to the Old Vegas???

However, even though I'm 40 minutes away from a great casino, I'll be heading to Vegas next weekend...there is just something about that town that the Indians will NEVER capture!
