Its is part of our Constitution.

The second on our "Bill of Rights" that makes this country great.

To me that would be no different than a President deciding to ban freedom of speach or deciding to restrict a certian religion.

Now that anti gun people can spin this many different ways, but it is what our country is founded on whether you believe in owning guns or not.
