South Point first impressions
I flew into Vegas Wednesday afternoon to work the NHRA event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. I stayed Wednesday and Thursday night at the Riviera, then moved to the Grandview at Las Vegas (across the street from South Point) last night. Quite a difference! The South Point is bright and uncluttered, lots of room to move around in their spacious casino. Their ventilation system is excellent (for those nonsmokers who don't like being around smokers). The video poker pay tables are better than the Riv, and if you don't feel like playing but you're still thirsting for a cold one, domestic bottled beer is $3, not $4 or $5 or more that most strip properties are charging these days. The Island Bar, closest to the convention center, is huge. It's at least twice as large, maybe three times bigger than the Splashbar, so there will be plenty of room for some of the social activities that accompany our convention. I like this place!
