Very few people will trade five $1 chips (or six in your case) for one $5 chip. Most folks obtain traders to trade for chips of the same denomination. They'll buy five $1 chips, four to trade and one for their collection. Also, given that $1 chips are usually worth at least $2 in collector circles when selling one to someone without access to a particular area, you, in affect, suggested you'd trade for $12 worth of chips, instead of a comparable $5 chip.
