eBay seems to be doing this reluctantly. Banning the sales hurts their profit line. eBay goes all over the world, and there are many different rules in many jurisdictions. I feel they were 'forced" to do this to avoid lawsuits, etc

For quite a while eBay has banned ivory sales across national borders.

It won't be terribly hard to enforce, what with search engines for the word "ivory."
