An old mans view...
When I was much younger I lived in Oregon. I hunted deer for food. My dad had 5 kids at home (2 were foster kids). I was older and had my own place. Gave meat to Dad. Oregon at tha time had larger deer population then it was 50 years befor. That was due to selective hunting controled by state licen. Also the money from the license program helped to control herds. If a certain no. of deer were not killed each year, many would starve due to over population. I used a high power rifle to insure a clean kill. I got close enough to insure hitting right spot( 50 yards or less). The deer I killed were killed cleaner then many of the cattle that end up on diner tables every day. We have killed many of the predators that controled population of animals in the wild. Is it worse to kill them with a rifle or let them over breed and starve ( like people do )? There are two sides (at least) to every thing. All that said, I do not care for trophy hunting either.
