Funny, but it seems to me that when people in Western PA poll in 65% majoritys for someone they 'relate' with, they are labeled extreme hick racists.
When Harlem polls 90+% for Obama, they get the "supporting someone they can relate to" label.
Don't try and have it both ways. That specifically is what is wrong with race relations in the USA, and Obama has had a MAJOR advantage head-to-head with both Clinton and McCain on the race issue, because he is black and either did not want to ever engage him on any subject that could be twisted into a "perception' of their being "racist". The media buys into this too. A couple of jerks yelling something at a McCain rally gets twisted into "the angry white lynch mob, led by palin and McCain", while the exact same behavior at an Obama rally is overlooked. That is just the easiest example I can use to make the point, but this is the climate McCain has had to run against. talk about behing behind the 8-ball.
And while I do support Obama, I have heard several white people say that they support him BECAUSE he is black, and I hate that. In my book, voting for someone specifically because of their color is just as bad as NOT voting for someone because of their color.
When Obama gets elected, I hope we can all look deep within ourselves and realize that until we can ALL get over this obsession with race, we really are NOT progressing, even if our leader is black.
