Let me share something with you. There are 3 major Mints that put out US Money. The Denver Mint, the Philadelphia Mint and the San Fransisco Mint. The Denver and Philadelphia Mints put out money for current circulation. The San Fransisco Mint does special sets like silver and Proof sets along with Medallions. Just like chips why would anyone spend $3 for a current 2008 Chip? Well there is alot of people that can't just up and go to the Casino of there choice. Just like the coins.
