Hi J.K.,
Unfortunately, this seems to be a common practice amongst SOME chippers. It happens to me about 50% of the time when I bid on a somewhat common chip. I get an email either during or after the auction telling me that they will sell the chip to me at a cheaper price. I have NEVER had it happen in any other ebay catagory.
If you are a seller on eBay and putting 'common' chips up for sale, about the only way to prevent it is to list your auction as a 'private auction'. That way the bottom-feeders will not be able to see the email addresses of your bidders.
I haven't listed anything on eBay in over 6 months but "private auction" will be the only way I will list chips in the future.
