Jim is writing about the $1 Golden Gate H&C chips in TCR-6, p.81.
The first issue of this chip was 1979. The reissue was in 1997 and
we felt that the new chips should be noted, but as you stated, there
is no way to tell the difference from the info in TCR. The canes are
both the short variety so even a picture wouldn't help. We don't usually
list a variety if there is no discernable difference, but for some reason,
we felt that a new issue should be noted so that you could upgrade or add
both chips to your collection. The only certainty that you have both is
to have obtained one before 1997.<g> Then to further confuse matters,
they added a house mold chip to the mix.
