If you are looking for ecomomy I don't think you can do much better that a HP.
That being said you have to be cheap like I am.
I re-fill cartridges and after the initial purchase you can reuse a black for in excess of 20 re-inkings at about 10¢ per refill. {buying ink in quart quantiies}
Have re-filled the color cartrige about a dozen times so can not say more.
Most of my printing is draft copies of my son's memorial project and those are in B/W.
I a sure you will hear all the down sides from others but for $50 I am a happy camper.
