The first one isn't old...but I love the ariel views

The Dunes sultan, after it was taken off the building, was put out on the Dunes golf course. It caught fire, an electrical short I think, and completely burned .


I grumble about what's happened to Vegas over the years...looking at this picture, I'm not too happy about what's happened to me over the years, either! (The picture was 1981)

El Rancho Vegas was the first resort built on the strip, in 1941. It burned to the ground in 1960.

Many of the resorts kept boats on Lake Mead, for the pleasure of their guests.

The Flamingo was the third resort built on the strip, started by Billy Wilkerson, finished by Bugsy Siegel.


Bugsy's suite was the top floor of the Oregon Building...the green building that overlooked the pool.
