Poker slang is what I was talking to Andy, and one of reasons that I'd like to play a low limit game with you by my side before entering the club tourney Katie.
Hole cards= the two down cards you receive on the initial deal.
The Flop= the 3 cards turned over as community cards by the dealer after the betting round after the hole cards haave been dealt.
The Turn= the sixth card you can use in your hand, turned face up by the dealer and added to the Flop to use in your hand if you can.
The River= the seventh card dealt, also face up by the dealer, to fill or kill your hand.
The particular hand I was talking about with Andy was, I had a Jack-Nine in the hole. The flop was an 8,10, Queen giving me a straight on the flop, and the turn card was a second heart card giving anyone who had two hearts in the hole a shot at a flush on the river. The river card was a club, and the cards showing on the table showed me I couldn't lose that hand. I had a "nut" hand, and bet it to the limits.
Hope this helps! Poker can be strange language if you've never heard it spoken!
