It would only provide a positive record of each person that entered and left the show floor. I believe that in itself would be a deterrent. Another thing that might help in conjunction would be if name tags were printed on both sides and had a large number in the center, one that could be easily read on video. Instruct the guards to require people flash their tags at the camera as they enter.
If the club had 15-20k to spend on a security system, they could minimally cover the area with a quality DVR and 8 - 16 cameras, at least around the perimeter of the showroom floor. No way they could catch everything, but I think it would go a long way in deterring a thief.
As for catching a thief in real time, that would be tough to do without having a lot more cameras and a trained staff to man them. Kruse has some expertise in this area, and if we enlisted his help, perhaps we could keep him from walking around the show room floor and bugging us all the time.
