I am not writing about the political side of the argument, just the energy options...I respect your opinions, and these are just my opinions:

Wind and solar are not limited like coal and oil, etc... You can't create much polution from wind or solar energy. Also, we dont have to look far to find solar or wind energy (although there are much better places for consistent wind energy in certain parts of the country), but looking for oil is somewhat of a process, and sometimes it isnt on our land. Then what? Go to war? Hopefully not. Look at Russia right now, trying to hog up resources by either buying them or taking them with force. No one can ever take our solar and wind energy away unless they own our land. Imagine the market for wind and solar enegy that can allow American businesses and homes to capture their own solar power and not need to depend on the gov or big business or any other country for energy. No one can raise the cost of our wind like they can raise the cost of our gas. Businesses could grow around the country in the solar and wind business, helping unemployemnt, small business and the economy. On the flip side, you cant sell people their own oil refinery for their house or business, so they depend on a few major oil compaines and the gov which is the mess we are in now and it isnt working.

Another whole argument for alternative energy is war. You dont need to go to war to steal another countries' energy resources when you have all the solar and wind energy you ever need right?

It just seems so obvouios to me for these reasons and plenty more that more oil is not the answer, even if it were available today.

So if the radio program was arguing that the time table for the energy solutions was the sole issue, they were not scratching the surface of the argument IMO.
