Thanks for the birthday well wishes. I had a great birthday!

I haven't been able to keep up with thechipboard the way that I used to. I've been incredibly busy lately. About three weeks ago, I bought a restaurant and bar here at Holly Lake Ranch. No, I'm not made of money. The previous owner had run it into the ground so I was able to pick it up for a song (and a little bit of a dance)!.

We open this Wednesday and I'm buried right now with pre-opening duties from tons of paperwork (licenses, certifications, payoffs, er, I mean fees, etc ) to hiring staff to buying inventory. I'm also learning a lot! Things here are a little different than Las Vegas! I'm located in a dry county so I can't have booze delivered. I do have a liquor license though as a private club, but I have to drive to the next county to pick up the booze!

I'm located on a golf course between the 9th and 18th greens. Below is a picture taken from the Pro Shop. That's my restaurant & bar in the background. The restaurant is named the Fore Seasons and the bar is the 19th Hole.

Since we haven't opened yet, I was able to have a private party in the main dining area last night celebrating my birthday. My family came down from Dallas and we had a great time. But now, it's back to work.

Thanks again for the birthday wishes. It really does mean a lot!
