If you'd like a "step up" from a sirloin steak, the Redwood Grille at the California (sorry, it's downtown, not on the strip. Take the CAT/Deuce bus if you are without wheels while in LV) is the place for you! The Redwood Grille is open Friday through Tuesday, 5:30 pm - 11 pm.
The Redwood has a special that is served nightly, but not on the menu - you have to ask for it....don't worry, they always have it, and I have never encountered an "attitude" when asking for it.
Anyway, the special is a Porterhouse. A Porterhouse steak is a t-bone type steak, but consists of a NY strip on one side of the bone, and a fillet on the other...most yummy!
The special starts with a loaf of crusty, warm French bread (baked in-house), oodles of real butter, and a mixed-greens salad or soup. The steak is served with baked potato (or rice) and fresh steamed, al-dente veggies (we had green beans and carrots recently). The best part is the dessert: a warm baked flakey crust filled with apples, cinnamon and raisins. Topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a blob of home-made whip cream.
The cost?..an almost laughable $17.99!

The atmosphere is great...comfy red booths with candle light and linen service. Nice, calming piano music coming from the bar area. Very comfortable and "old Vegas" style. Ask for Janelle if you go, she is one of the few female servers, but is excellent, and a truly cheerful person!
If anyone in your group is not a steak lover, their other menu items are well priced. Last visit all the Hawaiians in the restaurant were ordering King Crab legs....$30 for a pound and a half with salad and potato. I was told the cost of King Crab in Hawaii is out of sight, so the Hawaiian tourists stuff themselves while in Vegas! There are also other steaks, seafood and poultry items.
Yup, I love this place!
