Re: Excellent Chip!

Good Morning Tim,
The chip you show in your scan, in my opinion, is very rare. There have been several (two or three) sales on ebay at ridiculous prices between $300 to $400. However, those two or three sales over a four or five year period do not reflect the chips true value. The reason is because the sellers on ebay do not know what the chip is really worth so it is let go in that price range. From what I understand all of the Del Webb's Primadonna series have been destroyed with very few of the $5.00 and $2.50 checks getting out. I have seen the $1.00 offered for sale at shows as well as the pink 25 cent hot stamp. However, the $2.50 to the best of my research and knowledge has never been on ebay. There are only three $2.50 chips in collectors hands and I know who the three collectors are grin. I have spoken with many $2.50 collectors who do not have the $2.50 chip. The $5.00 on the other hand is not as rare as the $2.50 but is certaintly worth more than $300 or 400. My guess, I would put it around $700 to $800 for knowledgable collectors. I have owned only one $5.00 chip since 1994. Over the years, I have seen maybe a half dozen at the various chip shows I attend. Tough Chip your $5.00 piece!
