Re: Question for new TCR owners
In Response To: Question for new TCR owners ()

We've been discussing MANY options regarding roulettes and no-value chips where many different colors exist for what is basically the same chip. We would love to come up with a solution to be able to publish The Chip Rack in a single volume. I think in the future we may alter the numbering system to accomodate for situations like this, but frankly, one of our top concerns is keeping things constant, including the assigned numbers for chips listed in previous editions. That's our thinking as of today, anyway grin

We will certainly be having many more discussions regarding the big picture, but PLEASE continue to keep posting your issues and e-mailing the authors about anything you can think of. The Chip Board is the perfect place to have these public discussions and we certainly value any and all input.

As for the comments about rarity and condition-based prices, I'm not sure we want to change that (at least in the book version of The Chip Rack.) James' excellent book is very valuable for what it is, and The Chip Rack is just as valuable for what IT is... they don't necessarily need to look alike. We will try to come up with some language regarding condition rarity without making sweeping generalities.

Regarding modified (altered) chips, we are considering doing away with these listings completely. In some cases, the current listings themselves are hazy. Just last week I bought a $5 "B____'s" chip from the Horseshoe and darn if I know whether it's been damaged or modified. Any more thoughts on this topic?
