Re: What is a GOOD guide for Casino Ashtrays???

Larry is right about Art Anderson's book...it's got some great pictures and bits of history about Nevada casinos. grin It's the book that started me and my husband collecting ashtrays, and where I learned to enjoy stories about the old casinos grin . As far as being a good reference book for ashtray values...well, it's woefully out of date sad ...though the values for the 'common' trays really haven't changed much.

The good news is...the best Nevada casino ashtray reference is free! grin www.nevadacasinoashtrays.org is an AWESOME site that was put together by club member Mark Englebretson. Mark contacted dozens of collectors who contributed pictures of ashtrays, as well as pictures and postcards of the casinos. Author Dwayne Kling has contributed the history of the Reno area casinos, and Mark has others who have contributed history as well. With permission from the ccgtcc , Mark has included the text from the articles that Mr. Splashbar and I wrote for the CCTN.

Mark and his wife and daughter, and the web-designer, have spent thousands of hours working on the site...and it shows...it's a FANTASTIC place to spend a few hours looking at pictures of casinos and some rare ashtrays. You won't find the really common trays on the site...but you'll find the medium to rare ones, with approximate values. Enjoy the site! grin
