I think the other person was out of line. Reproductions pop up in every collecting circle, from Ming Vases to beer cans to coins. You took every step you could to inform any potential buyer that it was a repro, and even engraved your name and date on the reverse. Sell it with a clear conscience, in my book you're in the clear.
