I put a chip on Ebay the other day.... basically the add reads like this: "This auction is for one blue metal inlay, Kentucky Club chip. Ok, here is the deal on this chip, it is not real, there are currently 4 different colors of this chip known to exist, red, white, blue, and yellow. The blue being the rarest, I know of 4 of the real chips that exist, and the last one I saw sell on Ebay sold for over $600.00. This chip, is made up of a blank, blue small key chip with a metal inlay that was extracted from a severely damaged white small key chip. This blue chip has a metal inlay on one side and “D. Horn 7-1-08”, engraved on the other side, to keep it from being passed off as a real version. This chip is meant for display purposes only. I made one of these for myself a while back, just so I could have a blue chip displayed. And ever since I have had numerous people asking if I could make them one due to the limited avail. Of the originals. Kentucky Club was located at 627 Scott St. in Covington, Ky. which is the next city to the west of Newport Kentucky. This was an illegal Club, and ran from the 40's until 1952. This chip has a thin metal wafer inlaid into the chip on each side, it is really a very unique chip for any collection. Again, this is NOT a real blue KY Club chip….." Well, so far I have had 2 emails, both from the same person, who is TOTALLY IRATE, over this chip, telling me how I am ruining the future of chip collecting with my "manufactured" chips. The person who sent the emails, is a collector, who also sells on Ebay, I am not going to mention any names, because I am not sure if they post on here or not, and it really is irrelevant anyway. I am just trying to get the majority opinion, if it turn out he is correct and I am the devil, I will pull the chip and end the auction. But as I see it, I have done everything possible to show its NOT an authentic chip, and never once claim a value to the chip I am selling. I remember a while back, Paulson's put out a series of Cuban reproduction chips, that were identical to the originals, but had the re-release date on them. So I tried to follow the same theory.
Thanks, Dave
