Joe Shaw, Tracy Crump -- Chinese translation..

... is solved.

I brought the chips to work. I showed them to 6 different native Chinese people. The half, one and five were no problem. Five of the six had no idea on the red chip. The sixth said 25 with the 2 lines shown in a horizontal position. The last person told me to talk to one other Chinese person. This guy recognized all 5 denominations immediately.

The white is a dime while the red is a quarter. The problem was that the red was written in what he called a "business style" which is completely different from the style of the other 4 chips. He actually wrote down the numbers 1 though 9 in the business style. 1 through 3 is the same as traditional Chinese except the lines are vertical with the rightmost line longer then the first 2 lines (in the case of a 3)

He also said that since the chips were for an American-Chinese cardroom, the denominations would be in US money NOT yuans. This all makes a lot of sense to me.
